OzPod 2016 (#ozpod2016) was an event for the expanding podcast industry to escape the studio or office and meet with peers to share experiences, information, insights and ideas around audience acquisition and retention, new technologies, the rise of the podcast in traditional media, monetizing and of course the fine art of storytelling. Delegates heard from special guests from successful podcasts and networks, including: award-winning US podcast host Manoush Zomorodi (from WNYC's Note to Self), industry commentator James Cridland, broadcaster and comedian Meshel Laurie, ABC Radio's Richard Fidler, Professor Peter Fray of UTS, and Jon Tjhia from The Wheeler Centre.   LISTEN TO OZPOD If you’d like to listen to the OzPod sessions, listen to them here. If you'd like to hear the whole day as it played out, the entire recording is playing on a loop on ABC Extra until midnight Friday 7 October. You can also access ABC Extra via the ABC Radio app.   ABC OZPOD AUDIENCE RESEARCH We released new research ahead of OzPod on Australia’s podcast listening habits.  More than 1100 respondents completed the ABC Audience Insight Survey on the ABC Yourspace platform in August 2016. They were surveyed about the scope and variety of their listening habits, including ABC and non-ABC podcasts. The research indicates a high level of engagement with podcasting, with listeners enjoying an average of 5.5 podcasts per week per respondent.  View the full survey results and research.   WANT MORE OZPOD?
